As a fashion accessory, the clutch bag is undoubtedly a statement piece found in many of our handbag collections. Sure we all need an everyday bag, even a backpack for comfort and convenience, but a must-have when it comes to an evening out is a classic clutch bag. Allowing for compact style complete with statement detailing, the clutch bag is sure to elevate your look to the next level without overpowering your outfit.
First things first; size.
When you think of a clutch bag the first thing that comes to mind is probably its compact size, small enough to rest nicely under your arm and just large enough to fit in your iPhone and your favorite lipstick.
For this season, designers have really played on the miniature size with Chanel releasing this barely-there pocket-size statement bag.
We also love this handcrafted micro bag showcased by Jacquemus on the catwalks for this season.
So size down this season for a bang-on-trend look.
Now, what about the colour?
Combining traditional palettes with colorful expression, this season we saw some beautiful autumnal shades gracing the catwalks, think deep blues and purples complemented by some more unexpected shades such as rich orange and purple.
This Giorgio Armani textured handbag ties in the winter colour palette beautifully.
Although no matter how many shades are introduced to the Autumn/Winter colour palette, it's clear to see every year that black remains a firm favorite for designers.
There was one texture which dominated the catwalks this season and which seems to be a texture favoured by designers year-on-year. The black snakeskin fabric was seen across a range of esteemed designers from Prada to Mulberry.
We love how the fabric marries in subtle line detailing with contemporary geometric styling.
Finally, trim & detailing.
Whilst you may have thought we left woven fabrics and tassel detailing in the warmer months, you better think again. The straw and raffia bag trend started picking up steam a few seasons ago and by toning down the spring/summer vibes with a contrasting black leather fabric, this handbag style is here to stay for autumn/winter.
Initially, a trend rocked by festival goers the tassel handbag was another favorite reserved for the warmer months. However, throughout LFW we saw a range of designers opting for tasseled detailing on their fastenings for a toned down look ready for the colder months.
